Wine Stain Removal

There are several methods you can employ to remove wine stains when you spill wine on your clothing. The one thing you need to do in any situation to make sure you remove the stain is to act quickly. By acting as soon as you spill the wine, the better chance you have or preventing a stain. If you spill red wine, you should immediately pour white wine on the stained area and blot the area dry. You should never rub because this will increase the size of the stain and make it more difficult to remove. After you have blotted the area, sponge it in warm water – again by blotting and not rubbing. Use a clean cloth to blot the stain.

If you do not have any white wine available, you can use a mixture of salt and water to help you remove the stain. The salt will soak up the wine. Alternatives to this method include using talcum powder, baking soda or club soda.

If the stain has already set in, you still have a chance of removing it, although it is a more challenging task. If you mix some dishwashing liquid with hydrogen peroxide, you can use this mixture to wet the stained area and then you can start blotting it dry. The dishwashing liquid makes the stain soluble so the hydrogen peroxide can work to remove it. You can add this mixture to the water in the washing machine and wash the article of clothing as you normally wood. If the stain is on carpeting, you can simply pour the solution on the carpet and then blot it dry using a clean cloth.
